Professional Exhaustion and Its Symptoms
Professional exhaustion, or burnout, appears gradually when work becomes too demanding, repetitive, or frustrating. It mainly affects those who give a lot of themselves but feel little supported or recognized.
It can be recognized through three main dimensions:
- Emotional exhaustion: constant fatigue that makes each task more difficult.
- Depersonalization: detachment from colleagues, clients, or missions.
- Loss of personal accomplishment: doubt about one's skills and the impact of one's work.
Often, those affected minimize their difficulties. They put in even more effort and question themselves, thinking they are not performing well enough. However, burnout often results from working conditions and the organization of the company, not from a lack of individual competence.
